Margaret is a clinically trained art therapist who tought about the benefits of art therapy at the University of Connecticut, OLLI Program in Waterbury, CT and an Introductry Art Therapy class at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, CT.
She currently works with children and adolescents with emotional problems at The Village for Children and Families in Hartford, Connecticut.
Margaret has experience working with clients of all ages.
Older adults with depression and anxiety benefit using art activities to regain their sense of independence and self-worth.
Teenagers tend to be slow to trust enough to talk about their problems. Art is a less intimidating means to get to the heart of the matter.
Margaret also works with people who have substance abuse issues. Art is used to identify stressors and to unveil the emotional baggage that makes the problem worse. Art production is a highly useful way to gain insight into the barriers, triggers, and denial that substance abusers confront.
Margaret uses various art materials to empower her clients. The artwork allows the individual to examine their personal choices and to gain a greater understanding of themselves.
Regardless of the individual's artistic ability, Margaret provides a safe and structured environment for personal discovery.
